We are on the verge of a new age, a whole new world.
Mankind’s consciousness, our mutual awareness, is going to make a quantum leap
Everything will change. You will never be the same.
All this will happen just as soon as you’re ready.
--Paul Williams, Das Energi, 1973
Eternity
is a deimension
of here and now.
--Joseph Campbell, A Joseph Campbell Companion, 1991
The end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
--T. S. Eliot
What are we waiting for?
Eric Berne, the author of Games People Play and other books, displayed his rather dark sense of humor when he said that most people spend their lives waiting for Santa Claus or death.
Those waiting for Santa Claus spend their lives saying they will get on with their lives when they win the lottery, close the big deal, finally get their expected inheritance, or make the big sale. Then they will be happy. Then they will make their mark.
Those waiting for death spend their lives expecting to get a lousy deal from everyone, firmly believing that fate, God, the system, the boss, the government, or random people "have it in for them." They expect their number to be up at any moment and see no reason to try to be happy or make their mark.
Seth--of the Jane Roberts' books--puts a more positive spin on it. He reminds us that "the point of power is in the present." That is, we can't keep our lives on hold wallowing in our memories of the past or longing for the better days of the future. Better to live doing what we can do right now, right here, at this moment.
Here and now is where it's at.
